Your invitation to the Clear Thinking Coaches Council.
The nature of coaching is that it usually happens behind a closed door, with nobody watching or within earshot. Perfect for confidentiality but not so good if you’re wondering what it looks like to an impartial outsider, because you’re curious about how to improve your practice.
Coaches need a place* to continue to reflect on and develop our coaching capability, to maintain the quality of our coaching and to test the thinking that underpins the ethics of our work with clients. The Coaches Council is a safe place that blends live practice with reflective dialogue, explores the wisdom within the group, and encourages participants to share their coaching experiences, their successes and learnings, so that everyone can learn together.
There is huge value in doing this. The International Coaching Psychology Review, (Volume 12, No. 1, March 2017) identified key benefits for coaches who receive Coaching Supervision, including:
- Increased self-awareness, from seeing your own work through another’s perspective
- Greater confidence; certainty of your abilities through an appreciation of what’s going well and access to a wealth of ideas to tackle the aspects that you wish were better or different
- Increased objectivity; by honestly exploring biases, judgments and prejudices in a safe ‘place’
- Heightened sense of belonging; an acceptance of your identity as a Coach amongst your peer group
- Reduced feelings of isolation, through human connection and meaningful interactions with other coaches
- Increased resourcefulness, by tapping into the ‘hive mind’ to overcome challenges together and being part of an interdependent group
These elements are essential for both personal and professional development. These attributes enhance a coaches ability to support their clients effectively. Peer supervision plays a crucial role in fostering these qualities.
We offer a structured yet flexible environment where coaches like us, and you, can grow through mutual support, feedback, and shared experiences. This collaborative approach will improve our individual competencies and strengthen the coaching community as a whole.
We meet online on the second Friday of every other month. That means September, November, January, March, May, July and then back to September. We follow the Thinking Environment way of being together, and explore our coaching through peer supervision.
We open the meeting room around 9.10am, start at 9.15am and we finish at 10.30am.
We also make use of our virtual secret space, the Club, by creating a Room where we can meet, share and continue the conversation throughout the year.
Who is this for?
To take part you may already call yourself a Coach and be offering coaching services to your clients. You may also be working inside your organisation and coaching colleagues formally or informally. Whether you have a recognised coaching qualification or not, are part of a professional coaching body or not, there is much to be gained from taking responsibility for the quality and ethics of your coaching by gathering around a virtual table and exploring exactly who you are being and how you are transforming the thinking of the people around you.
